We undertake Legal Opinion work in respect of complex commercial and corporate matters with clients ranging from FT 100 quoted companies to small family businesses. COMPLIANCE LAW
We have valuable experience in the field of compliance with Mr Carter having been Vice-Chairperson of a regulatory board in the Isle of Man for a number of years. He has also been responsible for re-writing the Law Society Practice Rules.
Compliance requires the person or business entity to ensure they follow the current regulations in their jurisdiction. There is a responsibility to monitor with policies and procedures, provide adequate training, report to the regulatory body as required, keep up to date with changes in the law and regulations and carry out periodic internal audits.
We have been instrumental in providing advice and services to the following:
- Advising on regulatory aspects of mergers of Gaming Companies
- Advice to clients on Proceeds of Crime; Reporting; Disclosures; and Confiscation Orders
LICENSING LAW
Mr Carter is one of the most experienced Advocates in the area of Licensing Law on the Isle of Man. Although Mr Carter no longer makes court appearances he nonetheless can strategically assist (with the input of a Consultant, if required) in preparing the application for Court; assessing and advising on problem areas in advance; coaching prospective new applicants as to the requirements of the Court and their responsibilities; advising on the new Licensing Laws; and generally advising in this regard.
